AI Regulation Framework Gains Bipartisan Support in Congress

In a rare display of bipartisan cooperation, the Artificial Intelligence Safety and Innovation Act has garnered support from both sides of the aisle in the U.S. Congress. The bill proposes the creation of a new federal agency dedicated to AI oversight, mandatory safety testing for high-risk AI systems, and transparency requirements for AI-generated content. The legislation would also establish a $5 billion fund for AI safety research and create a licensing framework for companies developing advanced AI models above certain capability thresholds.
